This Wednesday (May 5th) we host the spectacular artist Mankind for our second ever “Versus Auction”.

Zebra Forest by Mankind on Versus Auction.

Mankind has been exploring NFTs and crypto for quite some time and we are excited to host his first ever drop on the Flow Blockchain; here we share some of his journey and artistic influences:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey as a digital artist.

After a near death experience concerning my health, a mental existential struggle began that I found echoed the pages of ‘Confession’ by Leo Tolstoy. “Since death is inevitable, what is the meaning of life?” I found the answer of hope by exploring, creating and sharing through the moniker ‘Mankind’. This project and daily experimentation has changed my life for the better and I aim to pass this onto others. I had always done personal and side projects while working professionally as a creative and director. But now, NFT technology has made it possible to offer my work in its original intended format; digital, and for me to find like minded collectors on the frontiers of technology and art.

How did you get into the crypto-art scene?

I’ve been into crypto currency since 2013 and a digital artist for over two decades. I was bound to combine them at some stage. That stage came when I saw, for the first time, a fellow artist Algomystic post the hashtag #CryptoArt on Instagram. Since that day I’ve been all in.

What influences your creative process?

I use the hashtag and follow the ideology of #ProgressNotPerfection because the path of discovery, creation, growth and sharing is all important to me.

Tell us about your upcoming drop?
(anything special about the piece/process?)

I wanted to create a striking yet meaningful image related to Flow. This yin and yang forest is visually in flux and balance at the same time. The Versus innovative auction format and contrasting artwork show how seemingly opposite or contrary forces, may actually be complementary and interconnected.

Why Versus? Why Flow?

I love experimenting and pushing boundaries to discover hope for the future. Versus and Flow seem to be aligned with this innovative approach.
